All great musicians. Have you heard Mark Guiliana’s Beat Music? I think they are one of the coolest groups around. Also, if you haven’t, check out Ari Hoenig and Tigran Hamasyan. They are awesome.

  4. tijn koenen says:

yes I really like Mark Guiliana and Ari Hoenig, two drummers that inspired me a lot. i never heard of Tigran Hamasyan, I will look for him! An other great drummer is Eric Harland, you should check him out!

  5. Tom Morris says:

Eric Harland is one of my favorites! When I saw you mention James Farm I got really happy. Another beast is Jim Black, if you don’t know him, definitely look into his playing.

Christian Scott….The New Face of Jazz! He’s gonna bring jazz to a bigger audience. He’s young. Young people want to hear hip young people play music.

  9. ethankoisti says:

I hate the brand name smooth jazz because it makes it seem as if everything that is played is just something made commercially and for use in an elevator or something. It makes it seem like whatever the players did was interesting but they didn’t want to over do themselves and actually make something boldly. This is not Smooth Jazz.
