My introduction to Duke Ellington happened when I was 12. A teacher gave me two albums–Louis Armstrong’s Greatest Hits (whee!) and Ellington at Newport. I’ve been messed up ever since–the first time I heard Jeep’s Blues and Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue, I knew Duke was my man for life. That was over 35 years ago, and, if anything, my love for the Duke and his great contemporaries has only grown stronger.

Why diss Snoop-Lion?… He also loves music and has created some the worlds’ greatest hip-hop/rap ever.:D ! Don’t be fooled man…, they had their “hoes” and “drugs” back then also, and policemen we’re just ‘rarrin’ to ‘incarcerate’ them also, and if you happen to “African-American”(term given to humans with more melanin in system, “black” if you will..) in those days, u had to watch yer back double-time!

I wonder why top 40 is always junk too It would seem people actually listen to good music their totally paid off. Just like the raio station that only plays top 10 and their midly entertaining. Anyhow this is a beautiful piece and I understand it from the name to each MP : )

  10. Damn! This is GREAT. So much intensity – even when the volume is low. Love it!
