I’m an old timer, into 70s music primarily. Ever since I heard this song on KFOG in the Bay Area, I’ve just loved the tune. Don’t know why it isn’t playing on all the pop stations challenging the top spot on the charts, it is that good of a song. Like a few others though, not sure if I get the rodeo theme. Trying to appeal to a country audience perhaps?

I’ve loved this song for a couple months now, SO GREAT!!

I thought it was a refreshingly surprising story. I’ve been loving this song for years and I always imagined the video would be some boy/girl summer romance. I have a young daughter and I sit in an office all day wishing I was a farmer so this was a cool short movie that sucked the catharsis through my chest.

  6. yes, a music video for a great song

It’s not about rodeos, it’s about a father (and lover?) who spends most of his time away from his family, competing, and following his childhood ambitions.

You can see he has to resort to consuming copious amount of pain medication because of the injuries associated with his job.

He’s lonely and would rather spend time with his family, and “walk with everyone else”.

Very good song with nice beat

  9. Love this song from the moment I heard it first. The video was perfect for the song too. Very touching. I’ve seen too many videos that just make me think what does it have to do with the song.

  10. Love Family of The Year !! Feel Good music at its best …… Keep up the great work guys (and gals) Can’t wait for you to release a new album with new songs (the sooner the better ) don’t get me wrong , I love Loma Vista , but I crave the sound and music you create … Thank you !!

now this is seriously good music

  12. So awesome, profound and sweetly put together! Thanks man, I needed to believe in this again.

  13. The video is real footage of Nicolas Sartor (and his family) who’s one of the top bull riders in California. He was in a coma after being hit by a bull last year which is the reason for the pain killers. Despite his injuries, he continues to ride bulls (and work a second job) to support his family. Heroes are everyday people.

This song is about a troubled man’s search for lost happiness. He abandoned his wife and kids to pursue a childhood dream in hopes of reliving that fleeting moment, when he was a hero in everyone’s eyes. But at the end of the day he realizes that he is not that kid anymore, and has lost everyone else.

I think the rodeo analogy is about a person fighting for what he believes in. Not for the money, not for the fame, and not because he’s the greatest. But because he thinks its right. Fighting the good fight.
