Nirvana – Scentless Apprentice Cover with Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar – Full HD

Scentless Apprentice was possibly a sign where Nirvana would have been heading in future years. Unlike previous routine of Cobain scetching out a song and then showing it to the others, this one was worked up as a trio in the practice room and all three take co-credits for writing the music. It was also much more of a noise fest than most of the tracks on Nevermind had been and fits in well with typical Steve Albini inspired songs. Kurt closely based the lyrics on one of his favorite books – Patrick Suskind's novel Perfume: The story of a murderer. Suskind's book tell the story of a child that have no smell of his own but has an amazing sense of smell which lead him to become an apprentice to a perfumer – hence the title of the song. Equipment used: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar, Boss DS-1 and Marshall Valvestate 2000 amp

  5. fkracaskill says:

i am using that when i bought my DS-1 nearly year ago but your sound is much better. now i have Small clone but i still didnt sound like that :D

  6. Tomnedreb says:

Maybe it’s my amp then? I’ve never tried the DS-1 on another amp. Kurt use a Polychorus on this song and I will make a new version using this a little later. First I have to do Sappy :-)

  7. Kurt ShR says:

Two super distortions? I absolutely love that pickup. Got one in my 65 stang reissue and what a difference! But to everyone whos questioning on what pedal to use, i use a mega distortion and its basically a ds-1 with more capability. I can go from nirvana, to black flag to some slayer with a few knob turns.

  12. Tomnedreb says:

I agree the pick-up is great! I never tried the mega distortion, I just tied to use the same equipment as Kurt did on his songs. But I sure would like to try one, as I’m into the same music as u are.. If u want to check out more of my covers I would appreciate it ;-)

  13. ahahahh. Best request EVER!!!

  14. You should get a crew together and do some shows, Tom. Hands down. The sound is that precise…

  15. Tomnedreb says:

Hehe, thx man! I’m not sure how popular it would be, but it could be a lot of fun ;-)

  16. SultanBoots says:

I’d join your band.:) For me this song is like better to play than to listen to it. I mean I love your cover but usually I don’t listen to this song here at home, but I played it a lot on guitar. Have you seen the Perfume movie with Dustin Hoffman? I really liked that. :)

  17. Tomnedreb says:

I agree I love playing this.. I just don’t know how I forgot to use the Polychorus on this…I have to re-do it with that. Yea, I saw the movie, it’s great :-) I want to read the book soon also.
