    The colour is due to the fact that he scraped off the (brass or lacquer or whatever it’s called in English) coating, some believe it makes the instrument sound better or more according to the kind of music they’re playing.

    im pretty sure the color of the trombone is due to delquering, it softens the tone for jazz and blues. got mine delaquered and it truely does make a difference
