new lip design, really rapala, really? this saddle lip design has been in use here in Finland since 80ties and there are at least +30 small manufacturers that use the same lip in there lures :/

I agree with Mikko, this isn’t anything new… I even made a jig a while back that I produce a very similar lip with and use on my own lures… I don’t claim that I’ve come up with the idea, I saw them when I was younger and reproduced them later

I like Rapala and its nice that they finally use this lips on their lures too, but there are lures like this since at least 20 year. Even Salmo has a similar luredesign called Whacky since 2012.

What do you mean, the Salmo lure? Its called Salmo Whacky, it is a 12 cm long floater and has a similar shape like the Rapala Original. But it has this curved diving lip, which is based on a design that is very popular for Zander baits in Skandinavia.

Yes, Salmo Whacky 2012(the best zander lure) and other Finnish wobblers as Jesse(Finnish record zander) and other. These sadle nose lips are really great and catch way more fish then a normal lip. I find it a bit disturbing for a part Finnish company to try to market this well known nose lip as a “patent” as a sales argument because it has been well known for over 25 years in Scandinavia. Maybe it fools the north american customers but for everyone else its just embarrassing.

  9. Balsa Wood and Rapala must continue to exist! I don’t use anything else.

looks promising, but the first offerings are sized TOO LARGE. Hopefully smaller sizes will follow .
