an argument over what counts as “good” or “real” jazz might be one of the most pointless and stupid arguments available to human beings, and all of you that have participated in such an argument in these comments are horrible, boring people :)

Seriously? Jazz absolutely does NOT have to swing. Ever heard of Latin or funk? And as for “improvising melodic phrases over a given sequence of chord changes”, did you even listen to the piano solo at 2:16? You’re trying to put jazz music into a set of incredibly narrow parameters that I suppose come from your limited listening experience.

Apparently, you have a limited definition of “swing.” A bossa-nova must “swing;” a samba must “swing”, funk must “swing,” i.e., “groove” or as the pros say, “cook.”
The muscians on the video above do neither. The solos are banal and meandering. Indeed, the very antithesis of jazz.
It seems you are the one with the “limited listening experience” and/or limited comprehension of what jazz is.
